BGMI is finally returning for players after a ban of over nine months. Battlegrounds Mobile India, the version of PUBG mobile specifically developed for India, is expected to be unlocked in the next few days.
The game was banned by the Indian government in July 2022, citing concerns over data being shared with Chinese developers. Now that the game is finally returning, players are facing server offline issues on launching the game. So when will BGMI servers go online? Read on to find out.
BGMI to Make a Comeback after Nine Months
Krafton, the developer company behind BGMI has officially confirmed the return of the game. The video game company made the announcement on May 19th, however, they did not officially announce the re-release date. Ever since, the servers for the game are down and users are eagerly waiting for BGMI to be available again.
As of now, a message is displayed to the players when they try to access the game: “Hello BGMI Fan! BGMI servers will be unavailable for a while to come up with a better and bigger experience.”
“While we are working to give you a seamless experience, your account will be safe, and your progress till now will be retained. We will keep you informed of further developments and the release date through our social media platforms.”
When the payers try to sign in to the game manually, they get another pop-up message: “Server is not online yet. Please check the official news for information regarding availability. Thank you for your understanding.”
When will BGMI Servers Go Online Again?
Since Krafton has not officially announced the return date for the game, it is not confirmed when the servers will start again. However, as per multiple reports by some sources, the game could go live in the next two-three days. Krafton has reportedly set the timeline for the relaunch between May 21st to May 25th.
So keep checking out the game as it may get back online anytime now. Meanwhile, announcing the return, Sean Hyunil Sohn, the CEO of Krafton India said, “We are excited to announce that BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA will be available for download soon and we cannot wait to welcome you back to your platform.”
Indian Government will Monitor the Game After Its Return
While fans are happy with BGMI’s return, the Indian Government has stated that the initial return will be temporary as they will be monitoring the game for a trial period of three months. If there are no issues with server locations and data security, the game can make a permanent return to the devices.
“This is a 3-month trial approval of #BGMI after it has complied with issues of server locations n data security etc. We will keep a close watch on other issues of User harm, Addiction, etc in the next 3 months before a final decision is taken,” explained Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Indian Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology.
