Have you stuck due to the slow performance of your computer?
Computer users get irritated when their machine’s speed degrades and interrupt their work. That’s why users are searching for the tips and tricks on the Internet to make a computer faster.
Computer speed starts slowing down as it gets older and clogged up with various program files, unwanted software. You can improve the speed of your Laptop or PC, and extend its life.
How To Make PC Faster?
To help you boost computer speed, I am going to show 8 tips on how to make your PC faster.
I have explained the tips that I prefer to use while optimizing my computer to make it faster.
1. Remove Temporary Files:
While you are running some software or working on a computer at that time many kinds of temporary and unnecessary system files get saved automatically on your Hard Disk Drive without user intervention.
As we know, we need to have enough storage space to run our computer smoothly. Removing such unnecessary temporary files can be one of the most effective ways to optimize your PC for better speed.
If you are running Windows Operating System on your computer then its built-in disk cluttering tool (i.e., Disk Cleanup) can help you to remove temporary files.
Open the Disk Cleanup tool on your Windows computer by clicking the Control Panel and then clicking the System and Security. Under the System and Security, click the Administrative Tools and then click the Disk Cleanup.
Here is the path to go Disk Cleanup: Control Panel >> System and Security >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Cleanup.
By selecting the drives, you will be able to delete the temporary files from your machine.
2. Make your Desktop Screen Clean:
Saving all your files and creating shortcuts for every softwares on your desktop or home screen may be handy, but it can really degrade the speed of your computer.
Computers use images to represent all the files saved on the desktop. These images including the background image of the home screen can consume more memory space. If more memory space is consumed then obviously there won’t be enough space available to run other applications.
Thus keeping your desktop screen clean is another best idea to make your computer faster.
3. Defragment your Hard Disk:
Fragmentation is a phenomenon in computer storage which uses the storage space inefficiently, reducing the capacity and performance.
The disk defragmenter rearranges all of your files or data so your hard disk can work more efficiently, improving the capacity as well as performance.
By default Windows OS runs disk defragmenter on schedule, but you can also defragment your hard disk manually.
To manually run disk defragmenter, open your computer the right clicking your main drive (C drive) go to Properties. In the Properties dialog box, choose Tools tab. In the Tools tab, click the Optimize button which is located under the Optimize and Defragment.
Here is the path to open disk defragmenter: Right-click the C drive >> Choose Properties >> Go to Tools tab >> Click the Optimize button.
From the Optimize Drives dialog box, you can analyze each drive and find out if they need to be optimized.
4. Remove unused softwares:
In most of the cases, users are unknown about what types of softwares are installed on their PC. While installing the packaged software programs, some unwanted software might also get installed.
If any software is not necessary for you, it is better to uninstall them from your computer.
5. Limit the number of programs to run at startup:
Many softwares are designed and developed to start automatically when Windows starts. Such software might be running in the background that you can’t see on your computer screen.
By altering the system configuration, you can choose which program should run at startup.
Task Manager can help you to limit the programs to run at startup.
To open Task Manager, right-click the Windows Logo on taskbar and choose Task Manager option. In the task manager, choose the Startup tab.
Startup tab in the task manager will load all the programs. To disable a program that you don’t want to run at the startup, right-click on the selected program and choose disable.
6. Check for viruses on your computer:
Virus also impacts the performance of your computer. Worm is a kind of virus that replicates itself continuously till your computer memory goes down. Worm mainly infects the memory space. As a result, it slows down your computer.
Other viruses such as Trojan Horse also slow down your computer by automatically downloading unwanted files on your computer.
That’s why it is recommended to use a good antivirus program such as Norton and Kasper sky. Antivirus helps you to run a full computer scan including other removable drives to detect and delete any virus on your computer.
7. Add More RAM:
RAM (Random Access Memory) is the working memory on which system files and other program files reside while they are executing. If your computer doesn’t have enough RAM. It is best to add more RAM.
Installing a SSD (Solid-State-Drive) which has extremely faster read/write times than Hard Disk can improve the speed of your computer considerably.
8. Restart your PC Regularly:
Restarting your PC regularly is one of the best and easiest ways to make your PC faster. When you restart your PC, it clear outs its memory and also stops all the running services.
Conclusion:
I hope you have read all the tips that I have explained here. I suggest you repeat the steps like optimizing disk drives, scanning files, and removing temporary files frequently so that the speed of your computer remains faster.
