One of the best things about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the amount of small details that the developers took time to place throughout the game. There are Easter eggs that reference every game within The Legend of Zelda series.
One such Easter egg is the inclusion of the armor set from Link’s Awakening. The set claims to be worn by a hero that visited a mysterious island that you could visit but never leave. The set is a perfect nod to the beloved game. However, it can be difficult to find, especially if you don’t realize the areas its located in are puzzles. Here’s how to solve those puzzles and get this beloved outfit.
Updated by Erin Rice on June 29, 2023: The longer Tears of the Kingdom is out, the more players know about the universe surrounding the game. This update added information regarding how to enhance the armor set, and what that enhancement does. It also added some relevant in-text links to help readers find more information regarding certain aspects of this guide.
Awakening Armor Set Stats
The Awakening Armor set has a base defense of 9. Each piece of the set offers a base defense of 3. This can be upgraded at the Great Fairy Fountains, however, that costs Star Fragments, which are pretty rare. The set doesn’t have a set bonus, but it is based on the Link from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. There is a secret bonus if you enhance the entire set to level 2. This bonus is the Attack Up bonus. You can find the set by completing certain puzzles in the game or by scanning the Link’s Awakening Amiibo.

Mask Of Awakening Location
The Mask of Awakening is probably the one that will take the most time. It is located on the Thundra Plateau within the Hyrule Ridge region.
Once there, you will see these giant mushroom-like trees. Use a sharp blade to cut down four of these trees and use your Ultrahand ability to connect them together.
Once you have completed that, it should look like a giant pole.
Then, you will need to add a Zonai Stake to one end of the logs.
Once you have completed that, lay the pole, with the Zonai Stake at the top, against the southern pillar. The next part must be done around noon, so you can build a fire and wait until noon or just wait there and enjoy the view.
You’ll want to climb to the top and use Ultrahand to move the logs, so the stake is cemented into the top of the pillar. This will create almost a clock-like shadow.
This can take a few tries, so if you’re worried about time, this can be done before waiting until noon. Once noon hits, the shadow of that pole will land against the northern pillar.
If you are having trouble with this, you can just use your Ultrahand and hold the pole up, creating a shadow against the northern pillar.
Once the clock strikes noon and the shadow touches the pillar, you will see the metal plate in the center of the pillars open, revealing Thundra Plateau Cave.
Inside the cave will be the Mask of Awakening.
Tunic Of Awakening Location
The next piece, the Tunic of Awakening, is the easiest to get. All you need to do is head to the Ancient Columns. This is located within the Tabantha Frontier.
Head over to this specific column and climb up.
At the top of that column is a pressure-sensitive button. It will open up a cave at the northern edge of the columns.
Once you venture into the cave, you can find a treasure chest at the end.
The chest contains the Tunic of Awakening.
Trousers Of Awakening Location
The Trousers of Awakening are located within the Coliseum Ruins. This is pretty close to Hyrule Field.
The Coliseum Ruins is home to the Thunder Gleeok. You do not have to defeat the Gleeok in order to obtain the Trousers of Awakening.
Once there, you can run to the very back of the Coliseum. This will be directly across from the entrance to the Coliseum. If you plan on taking on the Thunder Gleeok, you’ll want to stay in the air. That way, you can easily shoot your arrows and hit the Gleeok. You’ll want to take out the 3 Gleeok Heads before you can do any damage. Once this is done, the Gleeok is open to attack.
If you need help avoiding the Gleeok, you can either attack it until it starts its flying phase, during which you can run to the back quickly, or you can try using different methods to sneak around it. Once you reach the back, you will see two knights. One has a sword and one doesn’t.
Use your Ultrahand to pick up to sword leaning against the wall close to where the knight without a sword is standing.
You will then need to put the sword in that knight’s hand. Once this happens, you will see a cutscene where a small metal plate moves, opening up a cave.
This is the Coliseum Ruins Cave. You will see a chest directly in front of you.
Opening the chest will give you The Trousers of Awakening.
